The new furniture is a first for Vitra in its colour variants and construction, meaning purchasers can mix and match from the collections. Available in maple, dark cherry, oak and dark oak, the pieces offer the perfect solution to storage in the bathroom.
Managing director for Vitra UK, Erol Donmez, commented “We are constantly refining our products and processes to create the best possible product. The new furniture ranges offer the ideal solution for showing off statement sanitaryware, while providing consumers with the rare luxury of storage and surface space, without compromising on style.”
All collections offer a series of under-cupboards and reversible tall units in all four colours. The Options collection offers countertops in a variety of lengths and universal mirrors to suit any range.
In addition to the new launches, Vitra continues to expand its portfolio with the introduction of two metallic bowls in its Water Jewels collection, designed by Italian architect, Matteo Thun. Available in luxurious gold and chrome finishes, these basins literally mirror the trend for opulent and glamorous products for the home.
Erol Donmez continues: “Vitra is renowned for its pioneering approach to bringing new materials in the bathroom. Water Jewels was groundbreaking in bringing glass, wood, marble and stone to the bathroom. Now, as diamantes have moved from the dance floor to the mainstream market, consumers are looking for products that glitter, which is the inspiration behind our new basins.”
Water Jewels is Italian architect Matteo Thun’s first collection for Vitra. The range explores colour, texture and shape in the bathroom through the application of diverse materials and moves away from the traditional ceramics conventionally used in bathroom design and manufacture.
Flexibility is the key to the collection, with the basins designed to fit either into, or underneath, a ceramic counter. The basins themselves are also interchangeable, providing a simple solution when changing the appearance of a room or updating it to reflect the latest fashions. Water Jewels is described as an effortless yet innovative range, offering consumers a cost-effective, on-trend bathroom with longevity.
In addition, the Water Jewels range incorporates a variety of basin covers, available in a selection of colours, materials and designs. This provides an innovative answer to the issue of surface space in the bathroom, while contributing to the overall aesthetic appeal and flexibility of the bathroom design.
Even the bath is adaptable. It has been designed as low level for ease of access in a hotel environment, where it can double up as a shower tray. The variety of colour and texture in Thun’s range is thought to offer modular appeal for both private and public bathroom spaces, allowing each bathroom to be tailored to the customer’s individual needs and preferences.
Vitra’s full line up boasts strong, design-led products that are practical and considered, as well as being suitable for both compact consumer bathrooms and challenging architectural projects.
