Modern folding/sliding doors for over 25 years



We all enjoy that feeling of relaxation when the sun is out and we can take a break from the normal routine of life. Solarlux Systems Ltd of Wakefield is part of the worldwide group Solarlux Systeme GmbH, who were the
originators of the modern folding/sliding door over 25 years ago. The doors are manufactured to withstand the elements (with high pascal ratings) and provide exceptional security and have high performance glazing to retain the heat in winter and keep it cool in summer. They create the ‘wow’ factor when your clients see the doors and the effect they create. Even when closed they allow a huge amount of light into a room and create a comfortable cosy atmosphere when it is cold outside. 

The folding/sliding door systems are made from aluminium, triple laminated wood to ensure stability or a combination of wood/aluminium. The aluminium can be powder coated to any RAL colour and the wood is available in a choice of materials and shades of colour. All our systems are tested in-house and at the Rosenheim Institute to ensure that they meet the highest national and international standards. There are 9 systems in the range which are suitable for a wide variety of applications. Each system has different characteristics and therefore make it suitable for a different application. These systems can be used in any location – urban, coastal, country and also in balcony situations. The most recent addition to the range is the SL82 Streamline – the stepped edge glazing virtually covers over the frame creating a unique all-glass look to this folding glass façade. Solarlux produce a range of Glass houses that help you extend the seasons so that you can relax more often enjoying the sun and light and yet be protected from the elements. 

The Glass house has a glass canopy roof Atrium (aluminium) or Aura (triple laminated timber) and uses slide and turn all glass glazing panels (SL25 or SL25R) or sliding folding doors (SL35). This unit is not thermally insulated and is the simplest form of Glass house creating an additional feature room. Alternatively the canopies can be used on their own. If you’re looking for a more sophisticated form of glass house then the ultimate level is the Wintergarden. This is a structure, typically made from aluminium, which can be added to any part of the house creating an exciting, light, contemporary living area. Solarlux’s thermally broken sliding /
folding doors allow the light to fill the room and they can be slid back to open up the room to the outside, eliminating the barriers between inside and out, allowing the use the garden/ patio as an extension of the home.
