Create a Smile

Finding a rare moment to surf the Internet I unexpectedly came across a fun website www.monster-prints.co.uk.  One thing in particular caught my eye, which was the stunning wallpaper and door features, which were worth further investigation.

After chatting with Vincent the MD, I discovered the interesting story of how this enterprise started. Many years ago Vincent used to paint large indoor   murals. Like Michael Angelo he’s always been fond of large pictures with a big impact, however these he said, to do well, are incredibly time consuming and costly and this is why you don’t see much along these lines now a days.

A few years ago Vincent invested in equipment that enabled him to create and print huge images for exhibition purposes.  One day over a cup of the finest PG tips, as he put it, it dawned upon him ‘why don’t I create murals again?’ After searching for a suitable material, which he found in the USA, he can now make wallpaper allowing you to have anything on any wall space, the results are stunning and the best thing is it doesn’t cost much at all.  If you go into monster-prints office it looks like you have just walked onto a beach, they have a panoramic around the walls of the Seychelles, which is rather a pleasant surprise bearing in mind the freezing cold outside. But what fun and it did make me smile and think these chaps are barking mad!

It’s hard to explain but it’s amazing how a simple picture can change the mood of a room and raise a smile. You can create a fantastic and unusual effect to any room in minutes, bringing out your creative flare adding extra dimension and fun to any home.
In addition to the walls, Vincent has put an interesting twist on doors, he takes a part of a picture like walk ways, say a rope bridge as an example, and cuts it in such a way it looks like you would be walking into a different world and a new adventure…………..It does make you’ double take’ when you see it and the effect is astounding.

‘Doors are essentially just functional and people don’t give them a second thought and I wanted to change that, you can liven things up with just a little imagination so why don’t we, your living space is so important to how you feel’ Vincent says.

Although this seems ‘off the wall’, excuse the pun, I can see this catching on and people will have some real fun with this.  The possibilities are endless; imagine a kid’s room with a wall of sweets, a panoramic view of their teams football ground or a favourite pony frolicking in a paddock.  Or something more sophisticated for the living room, perhaps an abstract or a scene of your Shangri-La and in the kitchen something clean, funky and fresh like a close of various ingredients. Why not make yourself a cup of tea and visit Vincent’s website, you will find yourself in a different world and you will start imagining what you can do, so what are you waiting for, go create some magic!
