Join the march for low carbon, low cost heating

Mitsubishi Electric’s award-winning Ecodan® air source heat pump will be on display at several exhibitions around the country from March, on a specially designed stand manned by the company’s alternative heating experts.

Ecodan can cut fuel bills by at least 30 per cent and reduce emissions by half over traditional gas boilers and qualifies for both the £400 boiler scrappage scheme and a Microgeneration Certification Scheme grant of £900.

The low carbon heating system will be central to Mitsubishi Electric’s display at Ecobuild (2-4 March) at London’s Earl’s Court and Ecodan will then be taken to the Birmingham PHEX Show (10-11 March), and the Chartered Institute of Housing CIH Scotland (16-18 March).

“We will also be taking our innovative heating solution to HIP!-EX 2010 at Newbury Racecourse and PHEX London in April, CIH Harrogate in June and the two PHEX Shows in October and November, so that we can reach as much of the market as possible,” explains John Kellett, General Manager of the Heating Systems Division.

“In addition to these shows, we will still be holding our own open days in Hatfield where customers can see the products working in situ, and we are increasing the number of training courses to meet the demand from installers to join in Ecodan’s success,” he adds.

Ecodan is now being manufactured in the UK and has been designed to be easy to install, operate and maintain.  This is crucial for Kellett, who believes that any alternatives to gas or oil heating have to be acceptable to consumers and work in ways that they are familiar with.

“Gas and oil prices continue to rise year on year, so more people are looking seriously at the alternatives and the time is right to capitalise on that,” he explains. “However, air source heat pumps will only realise their true potential if households notice little difference between the new technology and what they are used to.

“That’s why we have optimised Ecodan so that it will work with radiators and is suitable for retro-fitting and also why we have packaged it as a sealed unit that any approved plumber can install.”

Ecodan can help newly-built properties achieve Levels 3 and 4 of the Code for Sustainable Homes and can aid the fight against fuel poverty by reducing household bills.  To find out more about Ecodan call 01707 282880, email heating@meuk.mee.com or visit www.mitsubishielectric.co.uk/heating
